Hidden Reactions to Healthy Food

Friday 5:30 pm | Saturday 11:30 pm | Sunday 14:30 pm

Presented by: Daniel Crisafi, PhD; Author

Today, no one puts into question the important role that nutrition plays in preventing the risks for heart disease, cancer and generally speaking most illnesses affecting our societies, as a support given in the specific treatments for these diseases. If the scientific community is united today on the idea of a diversified nutrition, rich in fruit and vegetables, fibres, low in fat and with sufficient nutritional content of antioxidants and high quality fatty acids it still too often neglects the individual aspect of the digestive and / or immune capacity vis-à-vis certain food.

Immuno-nutrition studies the tolerance capacity of the individual’s immune system to various food elements and the means to increase that tolerance level. In doing, so one can control an essential criterion to good health: Chronic inflammation.

This chronic inflammation of our organism, often unknown, is the root cause of most illnesses affecting our civilization. This inflammatory process supports and sometimes worsens these conditions by increasing the oxidation stress factor and accelerating the development of various pathologies.

Controlling the inflammatory process through a nutrition which is specific to one’s immune system is the way to increase well being, psychological, intellectual or physical performances,
Maintaining body weight, optimizing aging and helping in the healing of various pathologies such as rheumatisms, cardiovascular conditions, digestive, psychiatric or allergic ones and many more.

In 1989, a nagging ankle injury forced Bruny to focus his attention on the sprints, in particular the 100 meters. The following season, he competed at his first major international event in the 100 meters at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in New Zealand. Bruny grabbed the bronze in 10.12 seconds.
